The story
Echoes of the Silent City
Mdina Resounds: Echoes of the Silent City is an immersive promenade performance that draws audiences into the defining moments of Mdina’s layered past. Blending theatrical storytelling, live music and song, the experience unfolds as a journey through St Paul’s Cathedral, leading audiences into exclusive spaces rarely open to the public.
Performed by an acclaimed soprano and accompanied by Jacob Portelli on a selection of instruments including Baroque violin, cello and pedal concert harp, the music fills the hidden rooms of St Paul’s Cathedral as the story unfolds.
Giuseppe D’Armenia, a member of the Cacciatori and a carpenter, leads audiences through the Cathedral, bringing characters and moments from Mdina’s past to life along the way.
The 45-minute promenade performance is preceded by access to St Paul’s Cathedral, giving patrons the opportunity to explore the Cathedral before the experience begins.
Patrons may also opt for the Tour & Performance package, which includes an exclusive guided tour before the performance. Conducted in English by a professional tourist guide, the tour explores picturesque Mdina and St Paul’s Cathedral before audiences embark on the performance.
The cast rotates by date. Artists perform on different dates and the programme may be subject to slight changes.
